Double Page Spread Production

Production of Contents Page

I started with drawing the outline for the cover line and the masthead using the box tool. Magazines such as Q influenced the style of the layout.

I then typed the cover lines and the contents of each page. I used the box tool to draw a box around the numbers and create a new layer out of it. Then I used the FX to create a drop shadow effect to make the numbers look 3D

I then added the main image and used a similar drop shadow effect on the red underlining of the text. I also highlighted in red the key features.

I positioned and resized the secondary image at the top and used the free transform tool to tilt it. I also used the stroke FX tool to form a boarder around it to make the image stand out and look as if its laid on top of the main image.
On the bottom image I liked the way the images blended together

Fourth Draft of Front Cover

Changes to Front cover

I added an arrowed red boarder similar to the one on the double page spread. I thought this was effective because it draws attention and it looks conventional for an indie style magazine.

I altered the all-round saturation of the cover to lift the colour so it doesn’t look as grey. I also changed the “harry coughlin” text to white with a black stroke.

Foundation Portfolio Evaluation

(use as many forms of media in evaluation as possible eg video on phone, prezi, go animate.)

  1. In what way does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
  2. How does your media product represent particular social groups?
  3. What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?
  4. Who would be the audience for your media product?
  5. How did you attract/address your audience?
  6. What have you learned about technologies from the process of constructing this product?
  7. Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?

Second Draft of Front cover

I have altered the main image because:
a) I thought this model looked more conventional for the genre
b) I had some good images of this model for the double page spread and contents page, of which I wanted to use.
Also I altered the colour shade of the plug so that it matched the colour on the right hand corner + some of the text. this had the effect of making the cover look more "tidy" so that it wasn't over run by different shades of the same colour.

I decided to change the background to white to match my contents page and double page spread
